Volunteer Opportunities & Student Placements
Sunnycrest Nursing Home volunteers provide an enriched lifestyle to respond to residents' interests, cultural and language needs. Volunteers provide a vital link between residents and the community. Local volunteers form the core of our volunteer group, which assist on diverse programs on a daily basis within the home and escort residents to participate in community sponsored activities.
We offer a variety of opportunities for our volunteers to become involved within the nursing home. Programs such as mealtime assistance, regular outings, one-to-one visits, special events and meals, afternoon and evening programs, spiritual and palliative care, are all programs that require the help of dedicated volunteers.
We are looking for people who possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, have awareness to issues related to cognitive and physical impairments, and have a genuine interest in spending time with younger and older adults. All potential volunteers are interviewed, given a thorough orientation including a detailed tour of the facility. Prospective volunteers must provide a current criminal background check, two references, have a Tuberculosis screening test and an annual flu shot. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator at 905-576-0111 ext #258 or e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org or come in and see us and ask the volunteer coordinator to send you a volunteer application.
We frequently provide an educational environment for students from both secondary and post secondary institutions. We strive to provide a positive learning environment for all students that successfully secure a placement within our home. Interested students are welcome to send their inquiries to email@example.com.
